APPLICATIONS TO SDSU (and other California State universities)
The California State University system accepts applications starting on October 1. Apply online through www.csumentor.edu. Your applications will be accepted until, but no later than November 30.
APPLICATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY of CALIFORNIA ("UC" schools)
Applications can be submitted November 1 - 30. Apply online at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/apptour.
This site is available starting October 1. Meanwhile it would be helpful to take a look at www.ucop.edu/pathways.
FAFSA
EARLY IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR you and your parents must apply for separate PIN numbers. Go to www.pin.ed.gov to do this. You PIN will be requires to access your FAFSA information or to make corrections and it will serve as your signature. (If you fill in an email address, make sure it is a permanent one.)
When you apply for the FAFSA, please go to the correct page. It is FREE...The Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The correct address is www.fafsa.ed.gov (if you go to fafsa.com, it is not free). Parents, and students who are working, should get their taxes done early in order to fully complete the FAFSA. Be sure to come to the Financial Aid night that CHS hosts in January. Important information about how to file the FAFSA and applying for scholarships is presented.
Remember that there are deadlines for certain scholarships and financial aid opportunities that might be different from the application deadline. Look for these!
