COLLEGE PLANNING EVENTS – 2018-2019

Please note that all dates are tentative and more details will be posted closer to the event.  ALL MEETINGS ARE IN THE Generations Room 345 at 7:00 (unless advised otherwise)

September 13, 2018:  Senior Night   
An evening for seniors and their parents which will include presentations about the college application and college-acceptance process.

October 4, 2018: College Financial Aid Night
This meeting is for parents of all grade levels, during which ways to finance college will be presented.  Of particular interest to parents of seniors is the part of the evening where completing the FAFSA is covered.

October 10, 2018:  Test Day for Grades 9-11, College4U Extreme and Yearbook Picture for the Senior Class (7:40 am to 12:15)
10th and 11th grade take the PSAT and 9th grade takes the new to us NWEA Map test.  Seniors will have a special event planned especially for them, followed by taking the senior class photo for the yearbook. 

November 16, 2018:  9th and 10th grade Academic Review:  Review of the first semester transcripts, and a discussion about four-year plans and general academic requirements for graduation will be the theme for the evening.  There will also be breakout sessions for:  academics for athletes, AP/Honors classes, and Q&A with the counselor.

January 17, 2019: 
PSAT Review for 10th grade families at 6:30 pm.
Junior Night starts at 7:00 pm
The focus of this event is researching colleges and how to choose a college and a major, as well as summer tasks to be completed in preparation for the college application process. 

March 14, 2016:  Eighth Grade Night
The guidance counselor meets with parents to give an overview of high school academics and discuss scheduling for freshman year.
