The total hours per deadline are cumulative.  If you are planning an extended trip that will complete the required hours for the year (for example, a short-term mission trip with church or school) please contact the school office so that they may put a note in your records. For one time events, click on the hyperlink (if provided) or call the phone number for more information and the contact person for the project.

Mrs. Uhland will notify the students via email and the daily bulletin of additional opportunities throughout the year.

4th  Vista Grande Elementary PTA - Fall Festival.  Need assistance with setup, cleanup, and running game booths.  As many helpers as possible.

5th  San Diego Ambrosia, Ambrosia pumila, exists in very few location, many of which are not on protected land. This plant has been nearly wiped out by loss of habitat and competition from non-native plant species. You can help it hang on for dear life where it lives on the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge by joining us to weed away those invading competitor plants. This is a ‘sitting on the ground’ event! Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Bring a long-sleeved shirt and drinking water. Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided. RSVPs appreciated but not required. Location: Turn south on Millar Ranch Road from Campo Road/Hwy 94. Enter at the first gate on the right, about .2 miles along Millar Ranch. Shadow Mountain Community Church Prison Ministry, "Great Christmas Card Mailout" prep.  Volunteers will be assembling Christmas card packages for church volunteers to mail out.  From 6-9 pm.  Mr. Heyer will need a count of those who would like to volunteer that night, please email him if you are interested. Contact Tom Heyer

December 

3rd  The Water Conservation Garden is looking for volunteers for their Jingle Paws event on December 3, from7 am to 1 pm.  Volunteers can help with set-up on Friday, Dec 2, 3:00 to 5:00 . Duties include decorating, organizing, pickup trash,  helping walk dogs, sorry helping clean up after dogs, setting up a walking route, clean up! Each student will get a t-shirt and a letter indicating they are volunteering. Contact Peggy Buffo at pbuffo@cox.net to volunteer.
3rd  Avocado Elementary School:  Gifts from the Heart event on Saturday, December 3rd from 1-4pm. They would love to have volunteers who enjoy crafts and have organization and patience to be in charge of a specific craft. The crafts are fairly simple but still require an individual to be able to demonstrate to the guest how the craft is to be done.   Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event but do not have to volunteer for all three time slots. Volunteers needed at 10am to help set up.  There will be a sign in/out book for the volunteers to keep track of their hours and the typed letters for community service hours will be available for the students to pick up on Tuesday, December 6th from Avocado's school office. 10th Oaks support over 300 native animal species, but are suffering from prolonged drought and invasive insects. Help keep new trees coming along while biologists seek solutions that will help oaks adapt to these challenges. Join EDI and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to plant oaks along the Sweetwater Interpretive Loop in the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge. You can be part of saving a whole ecosystem! Wear sturdy shoes and a hat; bring gloves and a water bottle if you have them; snacks, water, tools, gloves, and lots of acorn will be provided. RSVPs appreciated but not required. I Love a Clean San Diego, Creek to Bay Cleanup on Earth Day, April 22nd from 9AM-12PM

May and Summer Opportunities

 9th Community Service Opportunity:  Volunteers at the Chris Tomlin Concert for Food for the Hungry on May 9th.

Date: Tuesday, May 9th, 2017
Time frame: 5-11ish
Artists: Chris Tomlin, Big Daddy Weave, Phil Wickham, Zach Williams, Mosiac MSC, and Jason Barton.
Description: Food for the Hungry: You will be handing out pamphlets, answering questions, and aiding others in signing up to sponsor a child. This will happen mainly during the intermission.
Location: Viejas Arena, San Diego State University, CA  *Volunteer positions are filled on a first come, first serve basis*

This DOES count as service credit if students need or want it. Students are responsible to bring their own forms and the road rep at the show can sign it for them. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any more details!


San Diego Natural History Museum Volunteer Department is offering two volunteer opportunities for high school students ages 16-18 this summer.  For questions and application forms, please contact Samantha A. Reyes, Summer Camp Liaison at sreyes@sdnhm.org

Rancho San Diego Library has 4 volunteer positions open for high school students.  They are looking for students who want to make a long-term commitment, through the school year or longer.  Someone with consistent attendance, willing to volunteer one day a week, 2 hours a day.  Contact Patty Esquibel-Johnston, the Service Learner Volunteer Coordinator, at Patricia.Esquibel-Johnston@sdcounty.ca.gov.
